20 Jahre nach einer apokalyptischen Katastrophe spielt Metro 2033. Ein großteil der Menschheit wurde ausgerottet und die wenigen Überlebenden sind gezwungen im Untergrund, genauer in den U-Bahnhöfen und -Schächten der Moskauer Metro, zu leben da die Erdoberfläche durch vergiftete Luft, klirrende Kälte und Mutationen unbewohnbar ist. Als Wohnung dienen winzige Verschläge in denen gelebt, gehandelt und gearbeitet wird. Nur wenige Männer wagen sich mit Gasmasken und in dicke Anzüge gehüllt ans Tageslicht……
